Faerie Dust

May 27, 2017 by BHW

Dandelion fluff rains down
swept this way and that
on the warm breeze.

Faerie-like
winking and dancing
inviting me out
of my heart’s sorrow
the heaviness of holding teenage anguish
his and mine
entwined in a dance as old as
the medicinal Taraxacum itself.
No day in the sun
can alleviate the yours-and-mine pain
of the parent
powerless to the crashing waves
of a child’s heartache.

Why not, then,
close my eyes in the sun
remember the golden warmth of dandelion wine
dance with the faeries
glimmering and twinkling
in the everyday magic
blown this way and that
inviting me
out.
